This study aimed to evaluate the nutrient digestibility and amino acid utilization of hydrolyzed feather meal produced in Fujian,Shandong, and Guangdong provinces in male Cherry Valley ducks at sexual maturity. Forty􀆼 eight healthy adult male Cherry Valley ducks were randomly divided into four groups with 12 ducks in each group. They were fed with 100% corn starch(control group)and 85% corn starch + 15% hydrolyzed feather meal(Fujian, Shandong, and Guangdong),respectively. Through the metabolic trial of forced feeding􀆼total feces collection, the excreta were collected, and the quality, moisture, dry matter, crude protein, amino acids, calcium and phosphorus of feed and excreta were determined. There were differences in the contents of dry matter, crude protein and true amino acids in hydrolyzed feather meal originating from different regions. The hydrolyzed feather meal produced in Fujian showed the highest contents of dry matter(93.7%) and crude protein(83.4%). The crude protein contents of hydrolyzed feather meal produced in Shandong and Guangdong were slightly higher than those of Fujian, but the differences in crude protein were not significant(P>0.05). The true amino acid availability of aspartic acid, threonine and glutamic acid in Fujian hydrolyzed feather meal was higher than that in Shandong and Guangdong(P<0.01). After force- feeding the diets containing hydrolyzed feather meal produced in Fujian,Shandong and Guangdong,no differences was observed in the weights of feces and fecal contents of dry matter, crude protein, calcium, and phosphorus. The digestibility of dry matter, protein and nitrogen in the feces of Cherry Valley ducks fed hydrolyzed feather meal from different production areas did not show significant differences among Fujian,Shandong and Guangdong(P>0.05). There were few differences in other nutrients except amino acids in hydrolyzed feather meal from different production areas. The amino acid contents of hydrolyzed feather meal in Fujian were higher, especially the true availabilities of aspartic acid and threonine was significantly better than those of hydrolyzed feather powder in Shandong and Guangdong. The digestibility of dry matter and crude protein of hydrolyzed feather meal among Fujian, Shandong, and Guangdong was less significant.

To reduce feed costs, improve the breeding efficiency of sows, and promote sustainable development in the pig industry, this study investigated the effects of varying valine to lysine(Val/Lys) ratios in low⁃protein diets on the immune function of sows and the microbiota in their milk. Sixty sows with similar body conditions and mating times(fourth parity Landrace × Large White)were selected as the experimental subjects. The minimum nutritional requirements for lactating sows per NRC standards were used as the standard for low⁃protein diets. The sows were randomly divided into six groups:a normal protein group(17% CP,Val/Lys = 0.87)and five low⁃protein diet groups (14.3% CP,Val/Lys ratios of 0.64,0.74,0.84,0.94,and 1.04). Each sow was accompanied by 12 piglets, and the experiment lasted from the first day of lactation to the 21st day of weaning,a total of 21 days. The results showed that low⁃protein diets without additional valine decreased(P<0.05)the abundance of the B⁃cell marker CD11b in the mammary glands of sows, while increasing the Val/Lys ratio in low⁃protein diets increased(P<0.05)the abundance of CD11b in the mammary glands. Low⁃protein diets without additional valine decreased(P<0.05)the concentration of SIgA in colostrum, while increasing the Val/Lys ratio in low⁃protein diets increased(P<0.05)the concentration of SIgA in colostrum. Low ⁃ protein diets without additional valine significantly decreased (P<0.05) the relative abundance of Bacteroidetes, Fusobacteria, and Acidobacteria at the phylum level and Fusobacterium and Staphylococcus at the genus level in the milk microbiota of lactating sows, while increasing the Val/Lys ratio in low⁃ protein diets increased the relative abundance of these microbiotas. In conclusion, low⁃protein diets without additional valine impair the cytokine and microbial diversity of sows, and increasing the Val/Lys ratio in low⁃protein diets can mitigate these negative effects and help maintain the production performance of sows.

To enhance the expansion efficiency of canine adipose⁃derived mesenchymal stem cells(cADMSCs) and address the limitations of traditional two⁃dimensional culture systems in large⁃scale production,we developed a three⁃dimensional suspension culture system based on SynthemaxⅡ microcarriers was employed. Key parameters, including seeding density, agitation method, and culture duration, were optimized through static and dynamic culture strategies. Static culture experiments compared the effects of different seeding densities(1×104,2×104,and 3×104 cells/cm2)on expansion efficiency and cell viability, with viable cells counted using trypan blue exclusion. Dynamic culture evaluated the impact of intermittent versus intermittent⁃continuous agitation modes on cell proliferation using a spinner flask bioreactor, supplemented with glucose metabolism monitoring. Fluorescent staining(Calcein⁃AM/PI and TRITC⁃phalloidin/DAPI)was applied to assess cell viability, morphology, and cytoskeletal integrity, while culture duration optimization(24-120 h)analyzed expansion kinetics and viability changes. Results showed that under static conditions,a seeding density of 2×104 cells/cm2 achieved the highest expansion fold(7.20±0.20 ⁃fold)with 96.4% viability. Dynamic culture with intermittent agitation(24 h)followed by continuous agitation(72 h)yielded 4.1×104 cells on 300 cm2 microcarriers, corresponding to an expansion fold of(6.70±0.20 ⁃fold)and 94.0% viability. Optimal culture duration was identified as 96 h,with intact cell morphology,no aggregation, and stable viability(94.0%). These findings indicate that the optimized microcarrier ⁃ based three ⁃ dimensional suspension culture system, incorporating staged agitation strategies and controlled parameters, significantly enhances cADMSC expansion efficiency and quality, offering a viable solution for scalable production in veterinary regenerative medicine.

Classical swine fever(CSF)caused by classical swine fever virus(CSFV),is a highly contagious and lethal viral disease in swine, for which vaccination remains a critical preventive strategy, antibody levels is an important indicator for evaluating the immune effect of immunized pig herds. In this study, the recombinant E2Y protein of CSFV was successfully expressed using a prokaryotic expression system. The purified E2Y protein served as a coating antigen, and an indirect ELISA method for detecting CSFV⁃specific antibodies was established through the systematic optimization of experimental conditions. Results indicated that the optimal coating concentration of the E2Y protein was 0.25 μg/mL. The assay demonstrated no cross⁃reactivity with positive sera against common swine viruses and exhibited high specificity, sensitivity, and reproducibility. The concordance between this method and a commercial ELISA kit reached 91.67% . This study successfully developed an indirect ELISA for CSFV antibody detection, providing a technical basis for further optimization and development of CSFV antibody detection reagents.

The Food Safety Law of 2009 and the revised Agricultural Product Quality Safety Law of 2023 both explicitly prohibit the use of lean meat enhancing agents(β ⁃ adrenergic receptor agonists such as clenbuterol, ractopamine, and salbutamol) and mandate compulsory testing during the slaughtering process. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs also requires hog slaughtering enterprises to implement the regulation of“pre⁃slaughter testing,”with the testing ratio typically set at 5% to 10%(subject to regional variations). Under the strict supervision and implementation by various departments, the pass rate of recent sampling inspections has consistently remained above 99%. Given that the positive rate of clenbuterol has long been at an extremely low level and testing costs are high, this study focuses on optimizing the testing ratio for clenbuterol in the hog slaughtering process. It will systematically analyze the current testing situation, policy controversies, scientific basis for ratio adjustments, and optimization suggestions, exploring the necessity and feasibility of dynamically adjusting testing intensity and improving regulatory efficiency while maintaining safety standards.

Porcine epidemic diarrhea(PED),caused by the porcine epidemic diarrhea virus(PEDV),is a highly contagious and lethal infectious disease in pigs. The virus primarily targets the intestinal epithelium, leading to acute diarrhea and dehydration. Since the emergence of highly pathogenic PEDV variants in China in late 2010,PEDV has spread globally, causing significant economic losses on the global swine industry. This review systematically summarizes the current epidemiological trends, genetic variations and hazards of PEDV. Focusing on the three fundamental components of infection source, transmission route, and susceptible animal of infectious diseases, this paper highlights the challenges in current PED prevention and control, and proposes a comprehensive PED prevention and control strategy emphasizing enhanced biosecurity measures and scientifically immunization programs.

There are numerous factors contributing to partial rectal stenosis in cats, including congenital and acquired ones. Common clinical symptoms include abnormal defecation, abdominal distension and pain, and intestinal obstruction. Partial rectal stenosis can be preliminarily diagnosed through computed tomography(CT)and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI),but a definitive diagnosis requires histopathological examination. This paper details the examination process of the affected cats, the surgical plan, and the postoperative recovery situation. Before the surgery, computer tomography(CT),magnetic resonance imaging(MRI),ultrasound, cat serum amyloid A (fSAA),biochemical and blood tests were used to assist in diagnosis. During the surgery, the diseased tissue was removed and sent for histopathological examination. The postoperative recovery was tracked and the diagnosis process was analyzed to provide clinical reference.

With the rapid growth of the township animal husbandry industry, the frequent outbreak of animal diseases seriously threatens the safety of the industry and the income of farmers. Establishing an early warning system for animal diseases based on big data analysis is therefore essential. Focusing on the actual needs of township animal husbandry and veterinary stations, this paper proposes a method for building an early warning system for animal diseases based on big data analysis. By integrating multi ⁃ source information such as daily farm data, epidemic detection data, and environmental monitoring data, and using data analytics methods suitable for grassroots level,a straightforward and practical early warning index system and prediction model are established. This system enables early detection and warning of animal diseases, thereby enhancing prevention and control capabilities at the township level, reducing breeding losses, and promoting the healthy development of the animal husbandry as well as public health safety.
