  • Introduction to Guangdong Journal of Animal and Veterinary Science 

        Guangdong Journal of Animal and Veterinary Science (ISSN 1005-8567; CN 44-1243/S) was established in March 1976. It is a provincial-level scientific and technological journal, published bimonthly in large 16mo format. The journal is administrated by the Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GDAAS) and jointly sponsored by the Institute of Animal Science of GDAAS, the Institute of Animal Health of GDAAS, and the Guangdong Association of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine. The journal has been honored multiple times as an Excellent S&T Journal of Guangdong Province and as a Featured S&T Journal of Guangdong Province.


    1. Editor-in-Chief

        LUO Chenglong, Ph.D., Professor, currently serves as the Director of the Institute of Animal Science of GDAAS, and Executive Vice Director of the State Key Laboratory of Swine and Poultry Breeding Industry. He also holds several prominent roles, including Member and Poultry Group Leader of the Guangdong Provincial Committee for Livestock and Poultry Genetic Resources, and Vice Chairman of the Guangdong Association of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine. He has been honored with numerous distinctions, such as the Shennong Youth Talent by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China, the Young Top Technology Talent of Guangdong Special Support Plan, one of the Guangdong Hundred Outstanding Doctoral and Postdoctoral Innovators, and the Guangzhou Pearl River Science and Technology Rising Star.


    2. Director of Editorial Board

        LIAO Ming, Professor, Ph.D. Supervisor, currently serves as the President and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Zhongkai University of Agriculture and Engineering. He is also the Director of the National and Regional Joint Engineering Laboratory for Medicament of Zoonosis Prevention and Control, the National Avian Influenza Reference Laboratory (Guangzhou), and the Key Laboratory of Zoonosis of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China. Additionally, he holds leadership positions as Vice Chairman of both the Chinese Association of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine and its branches for Avian Diseases and Livestock Infectious Diseases. He serves as the Head of the Avian Disease Expert Group under the National Animal Epidemic Prevention Advisory Committee and as the Chairman of the Guangdong Association of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine.


    3. Aims & Scope

        Regular columns of the journal include Scientific and Technological Frontiers, Industry Trends, Reviews, Animal Husbandry Technology, Veterinary Clinics, and Experimental Research.

    The journal aims to publish papers in animal husbandry and veterinary science. Main topics of interest include:

    (1)  Studies in animal husbandry, including genetic breeding, nutrition, feed, healthy breeding techniques, breeding facilities and equipment, and the processing and preservation of livestock and poultry products.

    (2)  Veterinary research such as disease diagnosis and prevention, vaccine research and efficacy evaluation, and veterinary drug innovation and assessment.

    (3)  Special topics such as pet-related studies on nutrition, breeding, disease prevention, and clinical treatment.

    4. Readership

        The journal serves a broad professional readership, including:

    (1) Officials and staff in animal husbandry and veterinary administrative agencies (e.g., livestock, veterinary, and epidemic prevention stations).

    (2)  Managers and technical personnel in relevant enterprises, such as livestock and poultry breeding, feed and additive production, veterinary pharmaceuticals, vaccines, instruments, machinery, and smart farming technologies.

    (3)  Researchers and professionals from scientific research institutes, technology extension services, and diagnostic laboratories.

    (4)  Faculty members, students, and laboratory managers from educational institutions engaged in animal and veterinary sciences.

    5. Journal Distribution

        The journal is distributed in both print and digital formats. The print edition, with an annual circulation of 24,000 copies, is distributed nationwide across provinces including Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, Fujian, Henan, Hubei, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Beijing, Hebei, and Shandong.

        Digital dissemination is conducted through the journal's official website, the websites of its sponsoring institutions, and multiple new media and academic platforms, such as WeChat Official Account and Channels, Weibo, Douyin (TikTok), Wanfang Data, Chongqing VIP, and CNKI. This multi-channel approach ensures wide coverage and targeted communication with its professional readership.
