Feline idiopathic cystitis（FIC）is a common disease in cats. There are still many controversies about its diagnosis and treatment. This manuscript reviewed the latest research and clinical cases on the pathogenesis， diagnosis，and treatment of FIC in recent years. The use of sedatives，antispasmodics，analgesics，anti?inflammatory drugs，and antibiotics has gradually become a consensus in the treatment of FIC. Meanwhile，some traditional procedures such as catheterization are increasingly being criticized. In addition，the application of multiple etiologies， multimodal environment optimization （MEMO） strategies and prescribed diets for lower urinary tract disease is recommended for the long ?term management of FIC. Collectively，this review will provide useful information for the treatment of FIC at veterinary clinics.
